THE ANATOMY SCAN!!!

So today was the big day. Somebody out there knows whether Baby T. is a he or a she... BUT it's not us! ha! ha! The ultrasound today was great, revealing that the SCH is completely gone and that Baby T. is measuring ahead of schedule! The ultrasound tech even said the little booger had long bones! Baby T. is measuring in at 90z and measuring around 19 weeks. The fetal heart rate is still 161, so no slowing down there! We even bought a DVD to have the entire ultrasound filmed, and found out after she did the ultrasound that she snuck the gender check in there and we didn't even notice it! So now DH has taken that DVD and HIDDEN IT! He knows me too well, because I would have been studying that thing trying to figure it out! LOL! We got a lot of great pics though!

The first one here, looks like it has 'boy' parts, but I asked, and they are not. Just an u/s anomaly!
This one is not so clear, but a shot of the face straight on is in there somewhere!

I just love the detail in this one. Check out the fingers and thumb right by the mouth! Baby T. was practicing his swallowing the whole time, but never got the thumb in his mouth! That's actually a blurry foot right above the hand!

Another nice face shot. Check out the pouty lips! Baby arms in this pic are both to the same side (like it's holding a bat!)

This is probably my favorite from today :) Can you touch your nose with your foot?!?
Another baseball pose! I guess Baby T. is getting geared up!
This is a 2D pic showing the perfect profile! The knee, elbow and nose are all just about touching! Baby T. stayed balled up just about the whole time!
And a footprint! :)

Baby T is.......just chillin

It's a Jungle in here!

So this past Saturday, Dh and I took a little trip to Elizabeth City in search of a great deal I came across on Craig's list. If you know me, you know I love the rain forest. It's one of the greatest places I've ever been, and I've always been a fan of frogs, lizards and monkeys! So when I came across this offer of the open top swing, jump-a-roo, bouncer and playmat... well I just couldn't say no. Originally I had all of these items on my registry - they were the first things up there, but after I saw the price that was being asked I just had to have them now. There are plenty of other things to put on the registry!
So I'm not really a savvy shopper, although I try to be, but I just have to tell you about this one. So after I washed everything up and then wiped it down with lysol -
what did I exactly get???

_______________________________________________________

The open top swing - This neat little beauty retails between $120- $140 depending on the store. I love the fact that it uses batteries or plugs into the wall. The leaves on the mobile move up and down as it spins. It has six different speeds and two different positions. The seat also has two recline positions. There are several different songs to choose from, or just rainforest sounds! (which I love!) I played with this thing for hours after cleaning it up. I would say this swing is in mint condition!

The Jump-a-roo... I have heard nothing but great things about this thing, and judging from the kid who used it last - it was a favorite. This has a little more wear on it, but over all is in great condition! (Bumblee bees don't need eyes do they?!?) The seat spins around, the springs are adjustable and of course it makes plenty of noise! Lots of colors, textures and noise! :) Wal-mart retails this at $70.

The bouncer seat - Maybe this is my favorite? The whole seat vibrates and the lighted waterfall is activated by the babies movement or by playing with the hanging toys. This one too, plays either music or just the noises from the rain forest, I love listening to the sounds of the waterfall, frogs chirping and just the noises in general. I also love the peek-a-boo animals! I've been told that this thing eats batteries.... I sure hope not! This retails for about $50.

The play yard - This particular one is a bit smaller than the one I originally wanted, but after spreding it out, it is plenty big enough! All of the animals and toys are interchangeable, and there is also a pillow to rest babies head on when they are playing with the hanging toys and there is a built in mirror and other gadgets for tummy time. After a washing this play mat looks like it came right out of the box! Retail for this mat $40.

Then there's the Bumbo (with tray). I had never heard of this before, but after a ton of research, I am really looking forward to using this chair. Supposedly you can use it with a child as soon as they can support their heads... By the looks of the chair - it was well used, but still in great condition! The chair and tray retails around $50.

Then there was also the baby bath, never used, with battery operated shower. An infant bath mat (with a froggy) that can be used on the counter or in the bath, and a mirror that goes on the back seat so I can see Baby T. when he's facing backwards.

So I said all of that to say this. I only paid $150. I think I got a great deal. :)

18 weeks 2 Days

Sweet Potato!
I feel really good lately, I hope it stays that way! I have a lot more energy, a more realistic appetite and am generally in a good mood all the time! I just can't remember anything. I guess they call it 'pregnancy brain', at least now I have a named excuse for it :) Not much to report on the progress of Baby T. He or she should be around 7oz and moving all over the place! I still haven't been kicked, but I have definitely felt a lot more movement, and stronger movements. This weekend I felt a foot of something go from one side to the other - now that was weird. Dh was laying with his head on my stomach listening this morning and said he could feel the slight thumps against his face. I'm excited about the big ultrasound this week, and I guess we'll find out if all is well with the hematoma and the baby.

17w3d - Onion Head

ONION HEAD - LOL! My grandaddy always called my sister and I by vegetable names like Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato, but I'm glad nobody ever called me onion head! I'm guessing if this is a hard headed boy, somewhere down the line he may just earn that name, but for now Baby T is just the size of a big ol' onion. So what's going on with Baby T. ? From what I've read, the baby's skeleton is hardening, changing from rubbery cartilage to bone, and fat is finally accumulating around it. The umbilical cord is getting thicker and stronger, and those little fingers and toes are now topped by one-of-a-kind prints. Baby T. should weigh just over 5 ounces now, and is about 5 inches long crown to rump. It would be about 9 inches head to toe, if it could stretch out. The eyes have been busy and the retina has become sensitive to light.
As for me, my uterus should now be the size of a cantaloupe, and my belly of course is like a watermelon! LOL! I still haven't had that "OMG - that was just a kick" - kick yet... still waiting on that one.
p.s. that last belly shot pic... the dress makes me look bigger than I really am! I PROMISE!

Back from Vacation

16 Weeks... An avocado! Where does the time go? I've started to feel the baby moving a bit more now - I think. I'm still not 100% sure, because it's not all the time and it's so light. I noticed it before we left, but the first few days down there, I really felt it a lot! Then I didn't feel it at all for a few days. Most women describe it as fluttering - it's more of a light vibration to me. It's almost like a case of severe nerves down there. I'm getting very excited to actually feel that first unmistakable kick!

I had a wonderful week at the beach this past week hanging out with family and friends. I tried not to get too hot, or do too much, but I'm sure I did more than I probably should have! We ate, and ate, and ate and sometime in between spent time on the beach! LOL! I watched the crew go bowling, and was a bit bummed I couldn't join in, but I did get to enjoy a good game of putt-putt golf! The water was a bit cold for swimming, and I didn't want to hurt Baby T., so I spent a lot of time on the beach. My nephews and I built a sand castle around my chair [for the queen on the throne ;) ] and other sand sculptures, like Mr. Froggy below, just so they could destroy them later...

They are a mess - a super cute mess and I love 'em to death!

To come later this week - Another belly shot!

15 weeks

You guessed it - Naval orange. On top of that - I'm pretty sure I'm feeling the flutters now. It's so subtle, but definitely there. It feels like the same quivering I get when I'm super nervous - like when people say you have 'butterflies' :)
Next on the agenda - VACATION! I'll be back next weekend!
Oh - and Happy Birthday to me! Finally hit the big 3-0... Boy do I feel old.
